Koun in Exarheia
The aim of the action is to meet he young director Karolos Koun in
early phase of his artistic creation, after the end of the Popular Stage which he founded,
the creation of the "Theatrical Club Karolos Koun", the subsequent establishment of
Art Theater and his collaboration with important troupes.
We remember historically
events of the period and we walk the streets where he lived, walked and
created, during the years of Occupation and Resistance.

Koun in Exarheia
A set of actions which are aimed at opening up to the community through participation of
collectives, artistic groups, institutions, schools and neighborhood inhabitants. On the occasion of the celebration
of the World Day for Theater in Education (27/11) we revive the
historical memories connecting the past with the present through theatrical
interventions and events. We play on the streets scenes from
Chekhov's "Cherry Orchard", one of Koon's first works,
we come across images based on the chronicles of the occupation, we read
memoirs of his collaborators and literary texts about that time.

The performance takes place in an old tannery, today’s functional space, exploring human speech as a diving medium in the unconscious. Automatic speaking, prayers, unceasing flow, music and touch, construct the vessel for this journey.

Au talk
Walking around the different rooms in the space, the viewer is present as a witness or as a generator of personal and collective anxieties and wishes, between a stream of words, of silence, movement and inactivity

Au talk
This is a Performance pilot to a larger duration one, which will follow in the future, and takes place for three hours as an exhibition space

Human zoos: The interview
The human "zoos", also called "ethnological exhibitions "or" Negro Villages ", were fenced theme parks that exhibited live people in public in the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. This was done to highlight the cultural differences between Western culture and the natives.
Many millions of Europeans and Americans visited Zulu, Senegalese, Laponians, Pygmies, Nubians, Eskimos, Kalmyks, Buddhist monks, Sudanese, and Indians, who were portrayed as exotic species. Africans were photographed next to monkeys and chimpanzees to show visitors that they were more related to animals than to humans. This stopped around 1940.
